Free spots for Chevy Youth Baseball Clinic Updated 5/18/2012


The deadline for sponsored leagues to fill their allotted spots has passed, so a limited number of spots have opened up for the upcoming FREE youth baseball instructional clinic at Wrigley Field!

Saturday, June 2
Session 1

Check-in:                9 - 10 AM
Clinic:                    10 AM - 12 PM
Lunch:                   12 - 1 PM

Session 2

Check-in:               12 - 1 PM
Clinic:                    1 - 3 PM
Lunch:                   3 - 4 PM

Please see the image below or the file attached for instruction on how members of your league can sign up. Again, spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis!! 

The invitations contain important information about the RSVP site www.chevyyouthsports.com/rsvp which participants will use to register for one of the available clinic days. At the site, select Chicago as your market and your RSVP password is playball.

Spots will fill on a first-come, first-serve basis and we expect them to go very quickly. Please be sure to get this information to your league community as soon as possible. A waiting list will be generated once all spots are taken in the event anybody would need to cancel. Thank you!

Golf Outing early signup thru May 15 Updated 5/4/2012

PYB/S Golf Outing early signup has been extended to May 15th! Early sign up: $125 per person, $500 per foursome. Fees include: greens fee, cart, lunch, prize pack entry, and dinner at Durty Nellie's during the Parent's Night Out event later in the evening. Come on out and join the fun!

Looking for volunteers Updated 2/25/2012

We are currently looking for:

Scheduling assistant - work with existing Scheduler to learn the scheduling software.  Manage the software to edit the field constraints and run the initial schedules for each division and hand over to each commissioner for them to manage throughout the season.

Committee support -we are starting to form the committees for our the Golf Outing/Parents Night Out and PYBS Baseball Softball Day.  Please let me know if you are interested in helping us plan these events.

Bat Rule Change for 2012 season Updated 2/22/2012
Effective with the 2012 season, Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball will implement new rules for approving bats eligible for use in PYB/S.  Please be aware of this change and refer to the list of approved non-wood bats in the link below if you have questions regarding a specific bat.      

Rule 1.10

The bat must be a baseball bat which meets Little League specifications and standards as noted in this rule. It shall be a smooth, rounded stick and made of wood or of material and color tested and proved acceptable to Little League standards.

This Bat Rule applies to Bronco 6 and below:

Bronco 6 Division and below:  it shall not be more than thirty-three (33) inches in length nor more than two and one-quarter (2¼) inches in diameter. Non-wood bats shall be printed with a BPF (bat performance factor) of 1.15 or less;

In all divisions, wood bats may be taped or fitted with a sleeve for a distance not exceeding sixteen (16) inches from the small end. A non-wood bat must have a grip of cork, tape or composition material, and must extend a minimum of 10 inches from the small end. Slippery tape or similar material is prohibited. An illegal bat must be removed. Any bat that has been altered shall be removed from play.

A moratorium is in effect on baseball bats that include composite material in the barrel. Some specific models of bats have received waivers of the moratorium. For information on the moratorium, go here

Approved non-wood bat list

Any bat simply must: A - Meet the specifications of this rule, and, B - Not be currently subject to the moratorium referenced in the first paragraph above.




Scholarship Info Updated 2/22/2012

Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball believes that every child wishing to play baseball or softball should, regardless of their financial situation. Again in 2012, PYB/S will provide full or partial scholarships to those in need.  The Palatine Park District manages the Scholarship program so please contact Donna Orr at 847-496-6240 or by email at dorr@palatineparks.org for assistance.
